Established in 1864 in Fougerolles, France, Auguste Peureux's distillery crafted the famous Fougerolles Kirsch liqueur. In the 1950s, Peureux developed a distinctive method, macerating de-stoned Balkan-grown Oblachinska Morello cherries with various distillery liqueurs, finishing with Kirsch to reach 15% alcohol by volume.
